MY FINANCIAL SERVICES CAREER BEGAN IN 2025

After playing high school and college baseball, I was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays to play professionally. This gave me a chance to pursue my childhood dream of playing Major League Baseball and ironically also began my journey in financial planning.

Many of my teammates with the Rays received 1-3 million dollars in a signing bonus. While this was a wonderful blessing, it also provided almost unlimited financial means to 18–21-year-olds with limited knowledge about how to manage it. Many of my teammates spent money like there was no tomorrow buying multiple cars, homes, boats, and incredible jewelry.

More than 7 years later, all my former teammates are either in AAA, the MLB, or released. While my teammates in the big leagues are doing great financially, many of my teammates who have been released are in difficult financial situations that could have been avoided with sound advice and planning.

During my fifth season of playing professionally, I injured my shoulder badly and eventually required surgery. This ultimately brough an end to my career and caused me to reevaluate what I wanted to pursue professionally. Motivated by my former teammates, I decided to pursue a career in financial planning.

After attending business school and Michigan, I joined the Private Vista team with the goal of bringing positive change to people like my former teammates. Today I get to pursue my dream of helping good people make smart decisions with their money.

MY PRIVATE VISTA

I wouldn’t be where I am without my Mom, Dad, girlfriend Brandi, and some incredible friends who have supported me through thick and thin. My Private Vista is on a beach with them being active and sharing lots of laughs (although if we can’t have the beach – a nice golf course will suffice).

In the short term, I want to learn as much about financial planning as possible to become invaluable to my team and clients. In the long run, I want to help grow a business that creates positives change in people’s lives long after I leave.
